Jordan Kiro-Fungalei: Helping us all sing from the same song sheet

If you’ve been in touch with Zagga, your question might have been answered by Jordan Kiro-Fungalei, one of Zagga’s Client Services Coordinators. An excellent communicator and outstanding problem-solver, Jordan brings a lot to her role. She even brings along Milo, our ‘Chief Treat Officer’. Milo is a two-month-old Shar-Pei-Staffy cross and a new addition to the family for Jordan and her husband.

A high achiever in many aspects of her life, Jordan is also a member of the Auckland Gospel Choir, which won gold and became its category winner at the 2024 World Choir Games. She brings that same dedication and team ethos to her work at Zagga – helping us all sing from the same song sheet.

A new challenge after real estate and insurance experience

After growing up in Hamilton, Jordan left school and immediately moved to Auckland, taking on a data entry role at Ray White. She appreciated the work but soon realised that the kind of career she wanted required more qualifications. Jordan moved back home to “study my butt off”, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business studies, majoring in management and marketing. With her degree, she moved back to Auckland to take up a marketing role with a boutique fire and general insurance brokerage.

Six years later, looking for a new challenge during lockdown, Jordan applied for a maternity cover role at Zagga.

“I actually had no idea what exactly Zagga did when I applied,” she admits with a laugh. “It was supposed to be a temporary contract but they offered me a full-time position and I’ve been here ever since.”

‘Mrs Fix-It’ for the tricky stuff

As a Client Services Coordinator, Jordan works closely with Zagga’s investors to help them manage their portfolios, answer questions, and strives to stay on top of it all.

“Zagga is moving money constantly and dealing with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of transactions each week, in addition to the flow of continuous information moving around. It can be overwhelming for any one person to understand. However, with a supportive team and an itch for always wanting to provide the best outcomes for our clients I tend to become Mrs Fix-It,” Jordan says.

“I’m the balance beam between our customers, whether they’re borrowers or investors, and our management team. I try to be there to support both our team and customers, keeping the balance between all… I’m basically a Fairy Godmother.”

Her favourite aspect of the job is educating new investors to explain how the platform works and introduce the potential benefits of investing with Zagga.

“I enjoy working with clients and talking through how our platform works,” says Jordan. “It’s a great platform and a great product. We have a whole range of people who invest with us that are in different stages of their lives. That includes mums and dads, young professionals, retired experienced investors and everything else in between. It’s fantastic to see the calibre of different people across the board that want to diversify their income streams and invest in New Zealand through our platform.”

One aspect of Zagga that Jordan likes is that the minimum investment in a Zagga loan is $1,000, making it accessible to anyone. Seeing our youngest investors using Zagga to grow their portfolio is particularly inspiring, she adds: “It shows you how savvy kids are these days – I’m proud of them. As they get older and step into their professional lives, they can only build on that knowledge and success.”

Will it be a really good year ahead in 2025?

As we come to the end of 2024, we head out of a tough winter, and Jordan is hoping to see a lift in the country’s overall mood.

“Everyone just needs a really good summer,” she says. “

“I truly believe, people’s outlook is becoming increasingly more positive, so we could have a really good 2025 and onwards.”
